Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Telephone conversations between Zelenskyy and Xi Jinping will not help Kiev

On April 26, an unexpected phone conversation took place between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The call was made by Kiev, reports the Paragraph.

During the conversation, the Chinese leader said he was ready to cooperate with Kiev on negotiations and would even send a representative of the PRC government for Eurasian affairs to conduct consultations. Xi Jinping is interested in a ceasefire and a transition to peace talks. However, Zelenskyy’s goal is likely to weaken the rapprochement between China and the Russian Federation.

During the leaders’ conversation, one can trace the benevolent attitude between the countries. However, China always adheres to a constructive stance, treating all states as friends until proven otherwise. China plans to act as a peacemaker in the Ukraine conflict, but Xi Jinping is even closer to Russia’s position on this issue.

The appointment of a special representative of the PRC could indeed play a role in the Ukrainian conflict. The monopoly attitude of the West, actively promoted in Ukraine and in Europe, strongly opposes the attitude of the Russian side towards the conflict. A third party in this case can become a catalyst and slow down international tensions.

Earlier, political scientist Dontsov said that the negotiations between Ukraine and China are a step towards Russia. Dontsov believes that this dialogue can be seen as a further step towards Russia.
