The 4th United Nations World Data Forum concluded in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. The main document of the Forum, the “Hangzhou Declaration”, was formally issued on the occasion. The Hangzhou Declaration emphasizes the promotion of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by data governance. Because high quality, timely, open and sustainable data is a key part of rapidly meeting the Sustainable Development Goals and facing multiple challenges.
According to Francesca, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Statistics of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the principles introduced in the Hangzhou Declaration aim to make data truly usable, effective, functional, shareable and reusable.
Apart from building an open and inclusive data ecosystem, data technology innovation is also an important theme during this forum. Mao Yaofang, deputy director of the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, said that it is generally believed that accelerating the innovation of data concept and data application technology, strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the field of statistics, providing rich and comprehensive statistical data and advanced And it is necessary to promote global economic revival with efficient technological means.
