During Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s stay in New York, the tone and nature of statements by US representatives were provocative, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with aif.ru.
- There were no protocol-unacceptable provocations, artifices or demonstrations this time. But, I stress, that does not mean that we are satisfied with the way Americans behave in general. Because the tone and nature of the statements of their representatives during Lavrov’s stay in New York were provocative, – said Ryabkov.
The diplomat noted that the statements of the Americans are regrettable. He said that Russia had given the signal that it intended to defend its interests resolutely.
According to him, Lavrov’s participation in the events of the UN Security Council, as well as the program of the Russian diplomat “on the sidelines”, which included a conversation with UN Secretary General Guterres, with the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs foreign Al-Maliki, has become an extraordinary event.
Lavrov advised foreign politicians and diplomats to respect the opinions and interests of the world community.
