Shot by photographer Steven Klein, the ad campaign features models like Joan Smalls, Karen Elson and Amber Valletta posing in glass boxes as Ford walks past in her usual crisp suit. The models, many of whom have worked with the fashion designer since the brand’s inception in 2010, expressed not only nostalgia for years past and collaboration with the maestro. The Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2023/2024 collection features reimagined versions of some of the iconic looks he’s presented over the past 13 years.

Each outfit has become a kind of reflection and a look into the past. For example, the product line included a white cape dress that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 2012 Oscars; a shimmering color-block dress from the Spring 2016 collection; the strapless flat dress Zendaya wore to last year’s Critics Choice Awards.

This collection was Tom Ford’s last as a fashion designer. Earlier in an interview with Vogue magazine, he explained: “The day I stop loving it, I will sell it (the brand) because we are all here for a short time. no permanence. Now I care because I do. I want to be proud of what I do. It might take 10 or 20 years, who knows?” In addition to fashion, Ford has worked in film, directing two fully fledged and stylistically impressive films, A Single Man (2009) and Under Cover of Night (2016).
