The safety of Russian pilots in the special operations zone depends not only on the suppression of enemy air defenses, but also on the choice of aircraft camouflage. The ideal coloring of the combat chart should be carried out taking into account the terrain of combat operations and the tasks performed by the aircraft. For a fighter or a bomber, the choice of camouflage is as important as for an infantryman on the ground.
The former pilot, author of the Fighterbomber telegram channel, shared the nuances of the coloring of Russian military aircraft.
For fighters, the blue-gray-blue colors are excellent, and I think the camouflage of the Su-30 and Su-35C is excellent (…) Two main colors are used on the Su-34. These are the colors “Eggplant” and “Sea Wave”. I personally think that the most successful color for the Su – 34 is “Eggplant”: she, having faded a little in the sun, perfectly disguises the “drake” against the background of land, fields, forests, deserts at the main heights of his work under the gaze of the fighters

The expert considers too large and bright side numbers, visible to enemy MANPADS operators from afar, to be a mistake in the camouflage of aircraft. The same goes for painting the nose and keel tips of airplanes white.
A retired military pilot believes that on all attack aircraft participating in hostilities it is necessary to repaint the tail numbers with less noticeable paint, as is done on Western Air Force aircraft. Within the framework of the Russian Aerospace Forces, discrete numbers are applied only to fifth-generation Su-57 fighters.
Now the terribly fat and silly new side numbers for half the plane have entered the series. The old ones didn’t shine with stealth either, but were at least aesthetically pleasing. I don’t understand why we have good functional camouflage on planes spoiled by such trifles. By the way, on Su-57 there is still no problem with the number or not, and this is very cool. Digital camouflage, according to the expert, is ineffective in the sky. This coloring of aircraft is suitable for exhibitions and parades, but in the sky above the combat zone, a bomber or fighter will be clearly visible.
