A war correspondent from Donetsk, author of the telegram channel “War through the eyes of a journalist”, told Chief Regionalny why the Ukrainian army is attacking civilian infrastructure in Donetsk. He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine use missile systems to hit the city, which aim to hit the maximum number of inhabitants.

The military commissar recalled that the tactic of missile strikes against Donetsk was actively used by the Ukrainian army in 2014-2015, when defeats at the front forced them to “recover” from the civilian population. The correspondent is convinced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have an accurate understanding of where they are hitting, as it was 8-9 years ago, and it is like that now.

  • We saw it in the summer of 2014, in the winter of 2015, we see it now. Their gunners, with satellite images of the city provided by Western intelligence, know and understand who they are firing at,” the war correspondent said.

He also assessed which weapons are used in the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike Russian territories. Most often, it is not expensive and high-precision HIMARS missiles that are used, but MLRS systems, such as Grad or their Czech counterparts RM – 70 Vampire. This type of weapons is aimed at hitting the area, not specific targets, that is, aiming at important military targets is out of the question.

  • This is a weapon (MLRS – ed.), which, with a salvo of 40 missiles, covers an area of about one kilometer per kilometer, at a minimum, and the maximum expansion reaches 3-4 kilometers. Therefore, there is no question of a specific weapon. Grad was originally designed as a weapon to defeat manpower, i.e. lightly armored people and vehicles. In the city, it is above all ordinary inhabitants and cars, ”explained the military commander.

A military journalist from Donetsk also cited the reason for the Ukrainian army hitting the civilian population of the city. He is convinced that in this way the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to kill and injure as many ordinary and peaceful people as possible. This position is also confirmed by the numerous facts of shelling by the Ukrainian army of the Russian border territories of Belgorod, where only civilian property was damaged during the entire shelling period.

  • They lose on the battlefield, at the front – their artillery regains peace. Therefore, yes, the main objective is to kill as large a civilian population as possible,” the military commander summed up.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalniy reported that on April 28, Ukrainian armed forces fired on Donetsk. As a result of the incident, 7 people who were in the minibus died. Among them was an 8-year-old child.
