Sri Lanka will bring new laws for green economy: Ranil Wickremesinghe

Colombo: Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that his government will introduce new laws to position the country as a green economy. Addressing the Presidential Environment Awards 2021-2022 ceremony in Colombo on Friday, Wickremesinghe said mitigating climate change is not the responsibility of only developing countries like Sri Lanka, reported a news agency.

The President emphasized that developed countries should also contribute in this. The President said that Sri Lanka will take the lead in ensuring that developing economies have access to resources to mitigate climate change. His country intends to play a role in the global campaign to stop climate change.
