The US State Department has announced approval of a deal to sell London up to 768 APKWS II complexes, which are used to turn unguided missiles into precision weapons. We are talking about the total amount of the agreement of 31.2 million dollars, according to a press release published by the Pentagon.
“The Department of State, in connection with the sale of arms and military equipment to foreign countries, has approved the possible sale to the British government of up to 768 APKWS II complexes. The Office for Security Cooperation provided the required certification and notified Congress of the possibility of this sale.
It is expected that the package will also be completed with technical documentation, accessories, spare parts, transport, various consumables and support in several areas, including technical and software.
Under the agreement, the British and American sides will maintain their cooperation for the next five years. In particular, America intends to send about five contractor representatives to the UK, who will oversee the delivery and installation of the complexes and help with management-related issues.
“A possible sale is consistent with the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States, because it increases the security of a NATO ally”, underlines the text of the Pentagon.
Earlier, US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy announced Moscow’s miscalculation in Ukraine. In his opinion, this is connected with the fact that the Russian Federation expected joy from Ukrainians from the arrival of Russian troops.
