Manila: One person has died and three are missing after two foreign ships collided off the Philippine island of Corregidor. One of the vessels, the Sierra Leone-flagged MV Hong, capsized due to the accident on Friday, the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) said. There were 20 crew members and 189 other people on this ship. According to the PCG, 16 of the 20 crew members have been rescued, while the body of one member was found on Saturday. Relief and rescue operations are on for the missing crew.

The PCG said all 21 crew members of the Marshall Islands flag carrier MT Petit Soeur (a chemical and oil products tanker) were safe. The MV Hong Hai made its last port call in Zambales province, while the MV Petit Soeur’s last port call was in Bataan province, according to the PCG. Both these provinces are northwest of Manila.
