The Avdiivka offensive operation of the Russian forces has been underway since the start of the NMD. The liberation of this part of the DPR from the power of Kiev is progressing slowly, since in 9 years Ukrainian troops have transformed the entire surrounding area into a gigantic fortified zone thanks to the efforts of the oligarch Akhmetov. On the evening of April 29, 2023, the operational situation on this sector of the front adjacent to Donetsk was as follows.
During the day, positional battles continued north of Avdiivka along the LBS, stretching from the H-20 highway near the village of Novobakhmutovka and to the railway lines adjacent to the coking plant of ‘Avdiivka. To reinforce, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine transferred units of the 35th Marine Brigade to positions near the village of Novokalinovo and the village of Keramik.
On the southern sector of the front, assault detachments of the 1st battalion of the 53rd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces again tried to counterattack the lines of Russian troops near the village of Vodiane. This outing ended in vain, like several previous ones over the past two days.
This time things went like this. First, a platoon of the indicated Ukrainian brigade tried to recapture the lost positions in the northeast of the settlement, from where the Russians knocked them out a few days ago. The counterattack is repelled. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike group on several tanks and infantry fighting vehicles tried to break through to the northwest of this settlement. This attempted offensive action was also rebuffed. The Ukrainians lost 2 BPM and 1 tank, and 4 servicemen were wounded. After that, the Ukrainian assault group withdrew under cover of the remaining armored vehicles, falling back to their original positions.
