Extension of the armistice
On Sunday, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces agreed to extend the humanitarian truce for a period of 72 hours, starting at midnight tonight.
A statement issued by the General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces said: “Based on the efforts of the US-Saudi mediation request, the armed forces have agreed to extend the truce for a period of 72 hours, starting from the end of of the current truce period, although we have monitored the intentions of the rebels to try to attack certain sites, but we hope that the rebels will respect the requirements of the implementation of the armistice, with our full readiness to face to any offence.”

She added: “We renew our strict commitment to the declared humanitarian armistice and complete ceasefire, despite the continued violations by the coup forces, shadow brigades and extremist remnants of the defunct regime who have attacked our sites and camps in flagrant violation. of the declared humanitarian armistice which must be implemented for the benefit of our people.”
And to continue: “The Rapid Support Forces repelled the repeated attacks of the putschists during the hours of the armistice, which clearly confirms the trait of treachery associated with the putschists, in addition to the multiplicity and conflict of decision-making centers within the leadership of the putschist forces.
Since the start of fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-April, several truces have been announced between the two sides, but the fighting has continued and the two sides have exchanged accusations of breaches of the agreements of a ceasefire.
