More than 2,500 sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts participated in the opening of the tenth season of the Race of Heroes. The event took place at the Alabino training ground.
“We are opening the tenth season of Race of Heroes. Ten years ago, for the first time, 400 people participated in the event, and after that we expanded the project throughout the country and abroad. This season, more than 20 events are planned in Russia in major cities. Today there are more than 2500 participants, the track turned out to be quite dirty, 31 obstacles, a large number of people. We open the season and go on tour all over the country,” said Race of Heroes director Denis Annikov.
Participants had to conquer a specially prepared 8.5 kilometer long obstacle course. On this course, the riders showed their strength and endurance, as well as their team spirit. The course is filled with fences, ditches and water barriers, sheer fences, netting and barbed wire.
© TRK Zvezda The final challenge was the traditional rope climb of Everest’s eight-metre hill. Before the start, the newcomers were visibly nervous, the regulars, on the contrary, were waiting for the start with impatience and desire.
“I am participating for the second time. The first time I raced in winter, I want to see how much I improved my results, how I will pass the obstacles. A lot of fun, I run with my friends, I hope everything goes well, ”shared participant Irina Bricheeva.
Many came from the whole family. Yulia Zelenova, for example, offered participation in the race to her husband for his birthday.
“I expect the most powerful positive emotions. I gave my husband a birthday present to participate in this race and for the first time we will do it together. I don’t know what to expect yet , but I’m hoping for positive emotions. I ran a week before that, I didn’t do anything else, so I don’t know, ”the girl admitted.
Positive emotions and the desire to test themselves are the main motivations that have driven hundreds of people to run waist deep in mud and over seemingly impregnable obstacles.
“I just want to try myself, feel pleasant emotions and visit a circle of healthy people. I signed up just a month ago, but I ran, worked out in the gym, added street running workouts and got ready,” Artem Yakovlev said before the start.
The race was held in individual and team format. Alexander Bernatsky became the best among the men, breaking the track in 43:27. The fastest woman was Alena Krasnushkina with a score of 46:00. The best team time is 1 hour 03 minutes.
