The Russian Federation and India can approve the mutual acceptance of cards from both countries – the Russian payment system “Mir” and the Indian RuPay. This is reported by the Indian daily The Economic Times.
“According to sources, the mutual acceptance of RuPay (India) and Mir (Russia) cards will help Indian and Russian citizens to make seamless payments in Indian Rupees and Russian Rubles in their countries,” the document said.
According to the publication, the participants of the meeting, co-chaired by Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, also agreed to study the possibility of creating a single payment interface for the National Payments Corporation. of India and a payment system of the Central Bank of Russia.
In addition, the parties decided to consider the possibility of introducing the Service Bureau of the Financial Messaging System of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for cross-border payments. The author of the publication reminded that currently payments from Russia to India and vice versa are made through the SWIFT system.
