AvtoVAZ head Maxim Sokolov said in an interview with RBC that the company may reduce prices for new Lada cars. He distinguished two possible directions for reducing prices: reducing the cost of cars produced in cooperation with Chinese partners and changing working methods with official Lada dealers.
Sokolov believes that with the localization of production, it will be possible to compensate for waste collection, which will lead to a decrease in the cost of Chinese models under the Lada brand, produced in Russia. In addition, maximum resale prices will be set for official dealers, which will also reduce the cost of cars for buyers.
However, if dealers continue to inflate prices, AvtoVAZ can take economic measures, up to terminating the dealership contract. The new rules are expected to come into force in May.
It should be noted that from May 1, prices for Lada cars, such as Granta and Niva Travel, will increase. Currently, AvtoVAZ has 308 dealerships, of which 297 belong to private companies and 11 belong to the automaker itself.
