England international goalkeeper Pickford’s successful save came after ‘special planning’ before the match.
A reporter from Kings Power Stadium, home of Leicester, photographed the Everton keeper’s water bottle, which revealed the secret to his penalty.
Pickford put a graphic attached to the bottle showing that Madison tends to shoot in the middle of the goal at 60%.
At the time of the free kick, Pickford pretended to move left and right, to fool Madison, but the Everton keeper decided to stay in the middle and actually managed to clear the penalty to prevent Leicester from leading 3- 1 at halftime.
Pickford told Sky Sports he researched James Maddison’s penalties and researched his water bottle before coming to a decisive stop in Everton’s 2-2 draw at Leicester City .
