The commander of Zelenko and Porter told the details of the death: on April 26, at around 6:00 p.m., the Canadians, as part of a large group of soldiers, were ordered to hold the approaches to the supply road between Bakhmut and Chasovy Yar. Their group was subjected to intense artillery fire. Porter, Zelenko and at least three other Ukrainian soldiers hid in the dugout, but he was directly hit.
