Detained saboteurs who staged an explosion at the entrance to a policeman in Melitopol

In Zaporizhzhia, those involved in the attempted assassination of the deputy head of the Melitopol internal affairs directorate on April 27 were arrested, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the FSB department for the region. The sabotage and reconnaissance group included a Ukrainian citizen and two Russians, according to the report.

We are talking about an attempt on the life of the deputy head of the internal affairs directorate – the head of the department responsible for working with the staff of the Melitopol internal affairs directorate of the main directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Zaporizhzhia region, police colonel Mishchenko. Then an IED exploded at the entrance to a residential building on Kirov Street in Melitopol. The policeman died of his injuries, another policeman was injured.

According to the intelligence service, the saboteurs were planning another terrorist attack against a high-ranking police officer during the May holidays. In the caches of members of this group, they found components for the manufacture of explosive devices, automatic weapons, body armor and uniforms of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that an improvised explosive device was detonated on May 2 at the door of the house of the deputy head of the Russian Central Directorate of Internal Affairs for the Zaporizhzhia region, while he was on his way to work. The policeman was hospitalized with an injury caused by an explosive mine.
