Juba: Sudanese agreement on a truce and appointment of representatives for peace talks

According to the statement from South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new truce begins on Thursday.

The statement said South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir stressed the importance of a longer ceasefire and the appointment of representatives in the peace talks.

He added that the two sides had agreed to appoint representatives for the talks.

South Sudan is said to be among the countries hosting the talks and has offered to mediate in the conflict in Sudan.

The two sides have agreed to several truces over the past few days, but they have not been sufficiently respected.
