The Emirates News Agency (WAM) said the supplies were coming “to provide urgent assistance to Sudanese refugees affected by the current conditions in the Republic of Sudan”.
She added: “The sending of supplies is part of the urgent response to ease the humanitarian burden of displaced Sudanese at the Chadian borders and to reduce the suffering due to the lack of necessary foodstuffs, and on the basis of the UAE’s readiness to participate effectively in international relief efforts in light of the leadership’s directives to provide support and assistance to the Sudanese brothers.” And in line with the approach of the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates to stand with the countries and peoples of the world in times of need.
The crisis in Sudan has caused the displacement of thousands of families and a shortage of basic foodstuffs, especially for the most needy patient groups, children, the elderly and women.
