Dmitry Drozdenko, military columnist for Fatherland magazine’s Arsenal, explained how Ukrainian drones could reach the Kremlin. The specialist identified the UJ-22 Airborne drone in the drones, capable of carrying up to 20 kilograms of explosives on board, the parliamentary newspaper wrote.
It was precisely such a drone, the expert believes, that fell in a forest near Kolomna near Moscow a few months ago.
“These drones are able to fly over difficult routes, avoiding areas covered by air defense forces as much as possible,” Drozdenko explained.
At the same time, the expert added, it is important to understand that in this case it is impossible to create a single air defense dome. There will always be sectors and objects in which air defense will not work, says Drozdenko.
“In addition, our system has been probed for a long time – they launch drones in different directions, control their work using AWACS aviation systems and search for those most open areas,” the expert said.
In this case, a drone is a much more difficult target than a ballistic missile. It is smaller and flies at low speed, so it is difficult for air defense to detect it and aim air defense guns at it.
Earlier it was reported that the armed forces of Ukraine with the help of two drones tried to hit the Kremlin. Video footage of the attack that took place on the night of May 3 has surfaced online.
