Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science of the Russian University of Economics GV Plekhanov, Alexander Timofeev named several ways to find out whether the owner of a smartphone is monitored by a camera. The first step is to see if downloaded apps have access to the camera, the Prime agency wrote.

Access can be both for well-known applications and instant messengers, and for unimportant programs. If so, it should be disabled and not accept such application requests in the future. Also, most of them don’t need a camera.

Continuous operation of the camera leads to rapid discharge of the device. Therefore, you need to check the power consumption.

“To do this, you need to select the ‘Battery’ item in the ‘Settings’ menu and view information about power consumption. If it goes mainly through the camera, the suspicions are not unfounded, ”advised the ‘expert.

Additionally, traffic consumption may indicate monitoring. Streaming video from the camera quickly exhausts the limit. You can also limit network connections in the camera settings.

For those who are particularly suspicious, there is also a way to protect yourself – buy a case with shutters for the camera. But first, it is better to ask the question – are you so interested in intelligence agencies or spies that they monitor your daily activities, devoting time and resources to it?
