kathmandu: Five people went missing in an avalanche in Nepal’s Darchula district on Tuesday. A day after this, on Wednesday, the bodies of three of the five missing people have been recovered. According to media reports, all of them had gone to collect Yasargumba (wormwood).
Chief district officer Kiran Joshi told Xinhua news agency that the three bodies were recovered 500 meters from the accident site. The search for the two missing people is still going on. Initially, 12 people were reported missing in the avalanche, but seven people survived the avalanche, according to Xinhua news agency. Kiran Joshi said that 29 police officers have been deployed for the search and rescue operation.
