Priest Nikolai Savchenko told whether an Orthodox person is allowed to eat meat from slaughtered animals. He also explained how the ROC relates to this procedure.

According to him, a representative of the Orthodox Church, the believer in his attitude towards the Friars Minor should not allow cruelty and wickedness. He urged to love and care for animals. There are examples of animal care in church history. In particular, Saint Gerasim of Jordan took care of the lion, and the animal reciprocated.

At the same time, Savchenko reminded that eating meat is “blessed by God”.

— Monks don’t eat meat, they only eat fish. This is done so that passions do not flare up due to high-calorie foods, ”the priest said in a conversation with a correspondent of the Moscow Region Today publication.
