Ornithologist Alexander Sorokin was skeptical of the idea of State Duma deputies to attract eagles to fight enemy drones. The expert called the initiative something out of the realm of fantasy.

“In general, eagles can be trained, they can be trained. But, firstly, they can be injured by the propeller of an airplane, and secondly, the speed of a drone can be greater than that of an eagle, the bird simply cannot catch up with it”, quotes the NSN edition of the head of the Scientific and Methodological Center for Biodiversity.

The ornithologist said that a similar experiment had already been conducted abroad, but not a single bird was officially commissioned into the armed forces. The designated task must be carried out with the help of technological development.

The initiative to form a squadron of drone interceptor eagles was taken by Alexei Zhuravlev, deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee. Later, military publicist Vladislav Shurygin showed a video in which birds are trained to shoot down objects in the air.
