The study was conducted among 15,486 American healthcare workers who had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for about 40 years. We studied all cases of death as well as the frequency of cardiovascular diseases and their mortality. The medical journal BMJ has compiled a note that provides data on the degree of danger of drinks for diabetics. They relied on the complications and lethality associated with drinking such beverages.
It turned out that drinks containing sugar and whole milk had the highest death rate (1.2). Fruit juices take second place (0.98), drinks with sweeteners (0.96) take third place. The ranking also includes skimmed milk (0.88), tea (0.79), water (0.77) and coffee (0.74). Interestingly, coffee carries a lower risk than plain water.
