The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the reduction of the military age from 27 to 25 years. The reason for lowering the age of the project is called, in particular, the reduction of the cost of medical examinations and the increase in queues for the passage of the military medical commission.
“The long stay on the military conscript register during martial law leads to the fact that a significant number of citizens fit for military service who do not have the status of conscripts cannot be involved in military service on conscription for the mobilization,” the ministry said. in a report.
This is not the first initiative to reduce the military age in the country. Last summer, the Verkhovna Rada proposed to lower the minimum age threshold for the project to 16 years. From now on, against the backdrop of a special operation, the authorities are trying to put reservists under 60 under arms.
Earlier, Andrei Kartapolov, head of Russia’s State Duma Committee, said that the conscription age for Russian citizens to serve in the military could be raised as early as next year. We’re talking about the draft age of 21.
