Kiev: Russia claimed it foiled a drone attack on the Kremlin by Ukraine early Wednesday. At the same time, he called it an act of terrorism, calling it a failed attempt to assassinate President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky denied this, saying that we did not attack Putin or Russia. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state news agency RIA Novosti that Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time and was at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence outside Moscow.
There has been no independent verification of the alleged attack, with Russian officials claiming the incident occurred overnight but offering no evidence to verify this. Questions are being raised as to why it took so long for the Kremlin to be informed of the incident and why the video surfaced later.
A video shared overnight on a local Moscow news Telegram channel showed shots being fired from across the river near the Kremlin and smoke billowing from buildings. It is not possible to ascertain the veracity of the incident. According to the details provided with the video, residents of a nearby apartment building reported hearing smoke and hearing explosions around 2.30 am.
