European Union countries will supply Kiev with one million artillery shells in the coming year, EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton told a news conference.
“The European Union is committed to supplying Ukraine with one million artillery shells over the next 12 months,” Breton said, quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to the official, for this, the EU will allocate 1 billion euros from the European Peace Fund. An additional 500 million will be allocated from the defense budget of the European Union.
And this despite the fact that Russia previously sent a note to NATO member countries due to the supply of arms to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry chief Sergey Lavrov said any arms shipment destined for Ukraine would fall under the guns of the Russian armed forces.
