The official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Konashenkov, announced the destruction of the bridge in the DPR on the “road of life” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Chasov Yar – Artemovsk (Bakhmut) (Bakhmut). Thus, the plans of the Ukrainian troops to transport ammunition and transfer reserves to the city were thwarted, the lieutenant general stressed.
Near the village of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, a bridge was destroyed, along which the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to transport ammunition and transfer supplies to Artemovsk (Bakhmut), Konashenkov said.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that the Russian assault detachments continue to advance in the western part of Artemovsk (Bakhmut). In this direction, they are supported by paratroopers, who pin the enemy troops on the flanks.
It is known that the bridge over the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal in good weather allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to transport supplies and reinforcements in small batches across the fields. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will now only be able to receive assistance along the T-0504 highway in the Ivanovsky (Krasny) region.
Earlier it was reported that the fighters of Wagner’s detachment dug in on the Artemovsk (Bakhmut)-Chasov Yar highway with the support of regular Russian military units. Assault troops cut off the road leading to the besieged city. Military correspondents on the ground described the situation as “unbearably difficult” for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fierce battles ensued in the forest belt near the highway, along which the rotation of soldiers and officers took place, ammunition and heavy equipment were brought.
