The Russian Investigative Committee called the attack on Prilepin a terrorist attack

A criminal case after the explosion of Zakhar Prilepin’s car was opened under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – an act of terrorism. This is reported by the official channel of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Telegram. The case was initiated by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

An explosive device in an Audi Q7 car with Prilepin was detonated around 11 a.m. in one of the settlements in the Borsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the report says. The explosion injured the writer and his driver died. Prilepin was hospitalized.

Forensic investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee and explosives experts, as well as specialists from the FSB and the Interior Ministry are working at the site of the explosion. Biological, genetic, physico-chemical and explosive examinations will be carried out in the case.

Earlier Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin said Prilepin had “minor fractures”. The writer was transported by helicopter to the regional hospital.

The explosion was so strong that the car broke into two parts. A huge crater has formed at the site. In the chase, a man was arrested who may be involved in the assassination attempt.
