Rushdi added that the meeting will discuss the outcome of Arab mini-ministerial meetings held in Saudi Arabia and Jordan to discuss Syria’s return to the League and its invitation to the upcoming Arab summit in Riyadh.
The Arab League suspended Syria’s membership in 2011 when civil war broke out.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Syria will soon be able to return to the Arab League, but there are many challenges ahead in resolving the country’s more than decade-long conflict. Al-Safadi said in an interview with the American network “CNN” that Syria had enough votes among the 22 members of the university to regain its seat. He added: “The return to the League (of Arab States) will take place. It will be symbolically important, but…it is only a very modest beginning of a process which will be very long, difficult and challenging. given the complexity of the crisis after 12 years of conflict, Safadi: “Syria’s willingness to make real progress in resolving the conflict will help it win crucial Arab support to push for an eventual end to Western sanctions , which are a major obstacle to launching major reconstruction efforts.”
