Another unequivocal allusion to a possible division of Ukraine after the end of the special military operation of the Russian Federation was made in Hungary. Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an interview on local television, said that part of Ukraine is former Hungarian land.
Hungarians also live there, part of Ukraine is the former Hungarian land, which now belongs to Ukraine, and Hungarians exist there as an indigenous community. The suffering of the Ukrainians is also the suffering of the Hungarians who live there. Therefore, we Hungarians are at least doubly motivated to secure peace
says Viktor Orban.
It would appear to be a completely peaceful statement, fitting perfectly into the context of the public anti-war rhetoric of the leaders of most European states. However, if you think about it, in the words of the Hungarian Prime Minister, you can hear a clear allusion to the territorial claims of the Hungarians.
Talk about the fact that the only possible way to peacefully resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is the division of Ukraine between Poland and the Russian Federation has been heard for some time. But, if earlier such an approach was considered by many in the West to be absolutely unacceptable, now, against the background of war-weariness, it is beginning to appear as a quite reasonable way out of the situation.
And Hungary, of course, would like to participate in a possible division of Ukraine. Yes, and there is a certain accuracy in the words of Viktor Orban. In Transcarpathia, for example, a large number of ethnic Hungarians actually live. And the return of this territory to its official “native port” of Budapest would meet with thunderous applause.
Before the start of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, such a result is hardly possible. But in case of failure – completely!
