Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev announced the critical situation of forest fires in the region, the area of ​​which reached 20,000 hectares, noting that local authorities have requested federal assistance to fight the elements.

“There is a critical situation with fires in the area. It is aggravated by the weather: a somewhat snowy winter, inflamed peat bogs, then an abnormally hot and dry spring, strong winds, tomorrow again gusts up to 20 meters per second, “says the message published on the Telegram of the region. channel.

The chief of the region added that at present, the regional rescuers are not able to deal with such a large number of fires. According to Kuyvashev, on May 7, planes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, helicopters of the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Guard and Avialesokhrana will start working in the region. In addition, other regions provide assistance: the Arkhangelsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

He also reminded those who love to relax in nature and light fires in the forest that, by law, a fine for violation of fire safety requirements can reach 2 million rubles.

Earlier, Russia’s Investigative Committee filed charges for crimes related to a large-scale fire in the village of Sosva, Sverdlovsk region. As a result of the incident, two people died and a large number of houses and other properties were destroyed.
