Recall that the action began in the Alexander Garden in Moscow on May 5.
As RG told the press service of the movement, the action has already taken place in several cities of the country:
- Eternal fires have already been lit in Melitopol and in five settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, located practically on the line of contact;
- a lamp with a particle of fire was handed over in St. Petersburg to a 107-year-old veteran, Colonel Valentin Prokofievich Roslyakov;
- in the Tula region, the residents of the city met together with the Eternal Flame at the monument “Heaven Defenders of the Fatherland”, particles of fire were transferred to all neighborhoods and urban areas of the region;
- in the Smolensk region, a patriotic action took place at the regional center on the Heroes’ Memory Square near the Eternal Flame, and in the city of Vyazma – on the square named after the legendary commander Mikhail Yefremov;
- in Naberezhnye Chelny and Kazan, the Eternal Flame for mass events dedicated to Victory Day was brought by co-chairman of the central headquarters of the Popular Front Sergei Kogogin together with State Duma deputy Alfiya Kogogina;
- in Kerch, representatives of the Popular Front, local authorities and leaders of the ICC “Artek” received a particle of the Eternal Flame, part of the lamps will be handed over by the city authorities to veterans and organizations of veterans on VE Day;
- in Artek, tonight, students from 89 regions of the country will take particles from this fire and place an inscription from candles “The Fire of Memory” all over the central square, which will be visible from a bird’s eye view;
- in Volgograd, a lamp with a particle of the Eternal Flame from the Kremlin wall was received by a 97-year-old participant in World War II Alexander Vasilievich Medkov;
- “The Fire of Memory” has been brought to Murmansk, Novorossiysk and Sevastopol, and the Eternal Flame will be brought to a total of 33 Russian regions.
This year, with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo, the geography of the campaign abroad has expanded: - Pavel Berezhansky, member of the Central Staff of the Popular Front, head of the pulmonology department of the Morozov Children’s City Clinical Hospital, brought fire to Argentina, he also took part in the action ” Immortal Regiment” in Buenos Aires, he gave a piece of fire to Maria Stepanovna Kadar, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, residing in Argentina;
- fire was delivered to Chile by Stepan Kuzmenko, deputy general director of the publication “Behind the wheel”. He donated a lamp with a flame to the oldest Orthodox Church in Santiago of the Holy Trinity and the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, participated in the “Immortal Regiment” and a concert dedicated to Victory Day;
- a member of the Popular Front central headquarters, Channel One TV presenter Yulia Baranovskaya and NTV TV presenter Ekaterina Shugaeva delivered fire in Kyrgyzstan, praised 100-year veteran of the Great Patriotic War Gaffan Vildanovich Safin for the upcoming vacation. Particles of the Eternal Flame have been transferred to Batken, Aravan, Kara-Suu, Kyzyl-Kiya, Nookat and Uzgen, volunteer militants will take the fire from these cities to light it also in other cities and villages of Kyrgyzstan;
- in Abkhazia, journalist Olesya Loseva and member of the central headquarters of the Popular Front Mikhail Paley solemnly handed over the lamp with the eternal flame to the honor guard of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, after which it was installed on a pedestal in the National Museum of Military Glory named after Vladislav Grigoryevich Ardzinba, the first president of the Republic of Abkhazia;
- in Azerbaijan, a member of the Central Headquarters of the Popular Front, Channel One war correspondent Irina Kuksenkova and Honored Artist of Russia, singer Yan Osin met with veterans, laid flowers and brought the eternal flame to the monuments of Hazi Aslanov and Mehdi Huseynzade, also visited the Yasamal cemetery, where the heroes of the USSR are buried;
- TV presenter Polina Tsvetkova and clergyman and singer Father Fotiy brought a piece of the Eternal Flame to Minsk. In the Church of All Saints there was a solemn transfer of the “Flame of Memory” to the clergy and the division of the fire into lamps to be sent to museums and educational institutions;
- Actress Yana Poplavskaya and Channel One TV presenter Alexander Smol delivered the Eternal Flame to Cyprus, dozens of lamps were handed over to Russian veterans of the Great Patriotic War living on the island;
- Theater and film actor Soslan Fidarov has delivered fire in Sri Lanka.
In total, events within the framework of the action “The fire of memory” will take place in 13 countries, including Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In total, this year the “Flame of Memory” will have to cover a distance of nearly 76,000 kilometres: more than 61,000 kilometers by plane, around 15,000 kilometers by road and rail.
