They want to replace the coat of arms of the USSR on the monument “Motherland” in Kyiv with a trident

The coat of arms of the USSR should be replaced by a trident on the Fatherland monument in Kyiv. This was said by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.

“Yes, we are considering doing it,” he said on the national telethon.

According to Tkachenko, the project documentation is being prepared, the initial stage of the process of changing the Soviet coat of arms to a trident has already begun.

It was proposed to remove the coat of arms from the monument to the Fatherland in Ukraine as part of decommunization a few years ago. Then, the execution of this plan was delayed due to technical problems and lack of funding.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law prohibiting assigning names associated with Russia and the USSR to geographical objects.
