Cruz congratulated King Charles on the coronation and jokingly said in the video, “Pilot to pilot, Your Majesty, you can be a pilot in my squadron at any time.”
The concert included a series of letters from celebrities, during which little-known facts about the king’s life were presented.
Cruz had previously attended other royal events, such as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration in May last year, months before her death.
During the ceremony, Prince William gave a speech in which he congratulated his father on the coronation, wishing Elizabeth’s grandmother to be pleased, as he said: “I know she is there, looking at us with tenderness.”
The ceremony brought together many stars such as Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli.
Coronation of King Charles
Charles III was crowned King of Britain in Britain’s biggest ceremony for seven decades, a spectacle of pomp and grandeur that sought to blend a millennium of history with a monarchy fit for a new era. In a historic and solemn two-hour ceremony dating back to the reign of King William the Conqueror in 1066, Camilla, Charles’s second wife, was crowned queen. A huge military parade followed, rifle shots were fired in salute, thousands of soldiers cheered three times, military planes flew by just above the ground, while the newly crowned king and queen waved from the balcony of Buckingham Palace to the jubilant crowd gathered on the road to Dhamoul. Charles, 74, automatically succeeded his mother as British monarch after her death last September. The coronation is not necessary but is considered as a means of legitimizing the new sovereign in general.
