Amid pomp and adornment, King Charles and his wife Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday in Britain’s biggest festive event for 70 years.
The celebrations culminated in the ‘coronation ceremony’ on Sunday, which singers including Lionel Richie and Katy Perry performed in front of members of the royal family and an audience of 20,000 at Windsor Castle in the west. of London, according to Reuters.
In a surprising comedic segment after the ceremony, Charles and Camilla interrupted the singers, Richie and Berry, as they aired their weekend experience on the TV show (American Idol), and the two singers are members of the jury of the show.
King Charles asked Ritchie if the singers would stay “all night”, a reference to one of Ritchie’s hits.
“I just wanted to check how long you’ve been using this room?” asked the king, laughing.
He added: “Thank you for a great performance, your performance was impressive, Kitty, really. To be here together is a wonderful gift.”
After a weekend full of parties and celebrations, Monday, which coincides with an official public holiday in Britain on the occasion of the coronation, shows the solidarity of thousands of organizations resulting from a volunteer program.
Members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Leader of the Opposition are expected to take part in “The Big Help Out” events across the country.
