Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

sex is needed not only for procreation

Biologists figured out why sex arose and it turned out that not only for the sake of reproducing offspring.

Quanta Magazine wrote about the scientific work of the researchers. In science, it is traditionally believed that sex is needed solely for the sake of procreation.

A supporter of such a theory was Hermann Möller, who received the Nobel Prize in 1932 for having made the discovery that sexual reproduction is necessary not only to increase species diversity, but also genetic diversity.

However, it would be wrong to say that sex in nature is, in principle, needed only to produce offspring. According to scientists at Syracuse University, sex makes it possible to mix genetic material in order to reduce the risk of a number of harmful mutations that can even provoke the death of a person.

People who make love and thereby exchange bodily fluids correct the functionality of the genetic apparatus, renewing their organisms and the organisms of their partners. Although, on the other hand, the same exchange can contribute to the transmission of diseases or unwanted pregnancies, so this point of view is still controversial in science, writes InoSMI .
