The Council of the League of Arab States decided at the level of Arab foreign ministers to resume the participation of delegations of the government of the Syrian Arab Republic in the meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States, and all its affiliated organizations and agencies, as of “yesterday, Sunday.” This came in the decision issued by the Council in its extraordinary session, which was held on Sunday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States, to discuss developments in the situation in Syria. The Council renewed its commitment to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability and territorial integrity, based on the Charter and principles of the League of Arab States, and emphasizing the importance of continuing and intensifying Arab efforts aimed at helping Syria out of its crisis, based on the desire to end the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people that has extended over the past year. the past years, and in line with the common Arab interest and the fraternal relations that unite all Arab peoples, including the Syrian people and their historical contribution to Arab civilization and culture. He welcomed the Arab statements issued by the Jeddah meeting on Syria on April 14th and the Amman meeting on Syria on May 1st, and the keenness to launch a leading Arab role in efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis that addresses all the consequences of the humanitarian, security and political crisis on Syria and its people, and addresses the repercussions of this crisis on Syria. Neighboring countries, the region and the world, especially the burden of asylum, the danger of terrorism and the danger of drug smuggling, and welcome the readiness of the Syrian Arab Republic, in cooperation with the Arab countries, to implement the outputs of the relevant Arab statements, and the need to implement the commitments and consensus reached at the Amman meeting, as well as the adoption of the necessary mechanisms to activate the Arab role.
The Council stressed the need to take practical and effective steps to gradually resolve the crisis, according to the principle of step by step and in line with Security Council Resolution No. 2254, starting with the continuation of steps that allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to all those in need in Syria, including in accordance with the mechanisms adopted in Security Council resolutions. related to.
The Council decided to form a ministerial liaison committee consisting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and the Secretary-General of the Arab League to follow up on the implementation of the Amman Declaration and to continue direct dialogue with the Syrian government to reach a comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis that addresses all its consequences, according to the step-by-step methodology, and in line with the Council’s decision. Security No. 2254, and the committee submits periodic reports to the University Council at the ministerial level. The Council called on the Secretary-General of the Arab League to follow up on the implementation of what was stated in the resolution.
