Three people died in fires in the Kurgan region

Three people died in large-scale fires in the Kurgan region, reports the Russian Federation’s investigative committee for the region. The exact death toll is being established, the report said. A criminal case has been opened.

Previously, due to fires throughout the region, a state of emergency was declared. The corresponding resolution was signed by Governor Vadim Shumkov. In the village of Yuldus, a school and 20 houses caught fire. Several villages are evacuated, as well as a microdistrict and settlements in the suburbs of Kurgan. Road traffic has been restricted in the area.

Investigators opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence). According to the investigation service, the fire spread due to possible negligence on the part of officials who failed to provide fire safety during the fire danger period.

An IL-76 aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has arrived in the region, two more IL-76 aircraft of the Ministry of Defense are expected. The total consolidation of forces and fire extinguishing means will be more than 1,000 people and about 250 pieces of equipment.

Earlier, the governor of the Sverdlovsk region announced the critical situation with fires in the region.
