In a congratulatory speech to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko noted that the Soviet soldier’s path to the Great Victory was difficult and long, steeped in the blood of those who fell in battle, forged by the selfless labor of the workers of the home front, riddled with the pain of irreparable loss, unbelievable hardship and hardship.
Addressing the Russian leader, the head of state stressed that he knows how carefully Russia cherishes “the memory of every hero, how it honors the exploits of the fighters who saved humanity from extermination and of slavery”.
Our duty, he said, to our ancestors is “resolutely to oppose attempts to revive the ideas of Nazism, to glorify war criminals and their accomplices, and to falsify the truth about World War II.”
The President expressed his belief that the State of the Union would have enough stamina, courage and wisdom to overcome difficulties and win. “The selfless devotion to the lofty ideals of serving the fatherland has always been and remains a moral guide for the peoples of Belarus and Russia.”
Lukashenko congratulated Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin, Patriarch of Moscow and Kirill of All Russia on Victory Day.
Addressing the Georgian people, Lukashenko recalled that during the hard years of hardship, Belarusians and Georgians, courageously overcoming severe difficulties and suffering irreparable losses, side by side repelled the deadly threat of slavery fascist.
The more the unforgettable May 1945 goes down in history, says the message to the people of Moldova, “the more majestic the unprecedented achievement of the Soviet multinational people becomes. On this date, triumph and sorrow, joy and tears of millions of people who , sparing no life, fought for freedom, then together restored the common homeland from ruins and ashes.”

The congratulatory message sent to Lukashenko by Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasizes that in the hearts of Russians and Belarusians, Victory Day has always been and will remain a symbol of courage and heroism, devotion and mutual aid: “Our peoples will never forget the unprecedented exploits of frontline soldiers, partisans and underground, they will not forget the monstrous atrocities committed by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. Nearly eight decades have passed since that our fathers and grandfathers put an end to the “brown plague” at the cost of enormous sacrifices and difficulties. However, today we have to face the ideological heirs of the Nazis – the neo-Nazis and their cronies, on whose conscience thousands of human lives.
“Russia highly appreciates the active participation of Belarusian friends in ensuring the security of the Union state. I am sure that by joining forces and building on the good traditions of brotherly friendship and ‘mutual assistance, Russians and Belarusians, hardened during the hard years of war, will be able to overcome any hardship,’ said Vladimir Putin, asking to convey to all veterans living in Belarus the words of sincere gratitude, as well as wishes for good health, well-being and longevity.
