In detail, a well-informed source reported that the Russian forces had imposed control of the entrances to all the islands located at the mouth of the Dnieper in the province of Kherson.

The source added in a statement to the Russian Novosti news agency: “Currently all entrances to all islands at the mouth of the Dnieper near Kherson and at the exit leading to the Dnieper Bay are fully under control. units of the Russian army”.

Earlier, Russian forces targeted sites and strongholds of Ukrainian forces in the Cherkessky and Bolshoi Islands in the Dnieper, according to video recordings on social media and Telegram channels.

The source said: “Now the Ukrainian army is no longer there and all the roads leading there are under our control.”

The source noted that the Ukrainian forces lost the possibility and the opportunity to station themselves again on these islands.

The same source previously reported that the Russian military foiled an attempt by a “sabotage and reconnaissance group” of Ukrainian forces on 7 speedboats to land on the left bank of the Dnieper, north of the city of Alyoshka.

On the other hand, in the northeast of Ukraine, Russian warplanes destroyed a pontoon bridge for Ukrainian forces in the direction of Krasnolymansky.

The head of the press center of the Center of Russian Forces “Center” Alexander Savchuk said that Russian army bombers destroyed a pontoon bridge of Ukrainian forces.

The Russian officer added: “In the direction of Krasnolymansky, our forces targeted with heavy fire the areas of enemy personnel concentration and firing positions. Our bombers attacked a floating river bridge and bastions of Ukrainian nationalists. Russian air defense media managed to destroy a Himars missile, in addition to an unmanned aerial vehicle.” A pilot of the Ukrainian forces.

According to him, a Russian reconnaissance unit was able to find out the movements of hostile combat reconnaissance groups in the Chervonobovsky region and in the Serebriansky forest, and “these hostile groups were targeted by aviation and artillery fire , and suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.”

New attack on Kiev

In Kiev, officials said Russia fired around 15 cruise missiles at the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday, in the second attack on the capital in days.

Officials said all the missiles were shot down by air defense systems, after sirens sounded to warn of airstrikes in most parts of the country.

“At the front, the aggressor’s plans failed,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev city military administration, in comments posted on the Telegram messaging app.

Tuesday’s attack came a day after Russia launched its biggest drone attack to date, part of an air campaign it launched 10 days ago after a lull in early March.

Today’s attacks are the fifth launched by Moscow in May.

The attack also coincides with Russia’s celebration of Victory Day, which is one of the country’s most important public events, in which Russia commemorates the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.
