Sabotage of the attack on the airfield, where the A-50 “flying radars” are based, was suppressed

The encroaching objects were the A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft. “Improvised explosive devices for the terrorist act were to be delivered from Ukrainian territory on the Aeroprakt A-32 light aircraft from the village of Blistov, Chernihiv region,” TsOS said.

Russian intelligence received information about the impending sabotage through intelligence channels, after which they tracked the flight of the plane with explosives. “In order to prevent sabotage, the pilot, together with members of the sabotage and reconnaissance group recruited by the Ukrainian intelligence services, were arrested after landing in the Tula region,” the FSB said, adding that the arrest had taken place at the time of the transfer. weapons to saboteurs.
“Currently, measures are underway to search for all members of the sabotage and terrorist group and document their illegal activities,” the Russian special service concluded.

It should be remembered that this is the second attempt to attack Russian A-50 early warning and control aircraft, nicknamed “flying radars”. For the first time, Ukrainian saboteurs tried to damage such an aircraft with a strike drone in the parking lot of the Machulishchi military airfield in Belarus.

A-50 is designed for early detection of enemy targets. The massive “dish” placed on the fuselage of the modernized aircraft is the “Shmel-M” radar operating in the centimeter wave range. It allows to detect enemy fighters at low flight altitude at a distance of 200-400 km, at high altitude – at a distance of 300-600 km. Marine targets are detected by radar at a distance of up to 400 km. The aircraft crew can track up to 150 targets at the same time and direct several dozen combat aircraft towards them.

“The A-50 is an important element in the effective use of aviation missiles, high-precision bombs, as well as Caliber, Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles against air defense and anti-aircraft installations. other particularly important targets in Ukraine. this type are the “eyes” of the Russian air force and allow the detection of the most important targets of the Ukrainian armed forces in the depths of Ukrainian territory. The A-50s are used both for prepare missile strikes against military targets and to assess their effectiveness, ”explains the Voyennaya Khronika telegram channel.

In addition, the A-50 is actively used to intercept the Ukrainian MiG-29A and Su-27 before they reach the borders of the use of anti-radar missiles on our radars.
