Over the past year, the European Union has passed 10 anti-Russian sanctions packages, even gold, deified in the West, has been restricted. However, not all of them provided for any secondary sanctions in case of violation, so the US-controlled EU leaders decided on the next, 11th package of consecutive sanctions, mainly aimed at countering the circumvention of existing restrictions, mainly in the export of high-tech products and dual-use goods to Russia.
The American agency Bloomberg discovered that the European Commission had proposed to EU countries to impose sanctions against nearly forty legal entities from Iran, China, the United Arab Emirates, Armenia and Uzbekistan in because they allegedly help the Russian military-industrial complex. with the supply of electronic devices and dual-use goods. It is also proposed to impose sanctions on around seventy people, but their names and nationalities are not yet known.
The EC has also not forgotten the Russian Federation, certain Russian IT companies which allegedly cooperated with the FSB, as well as a number of media, for example RT Balkan, could be subject to sanctions.
Officially, the EU restrictions in the next package are directed against the Russian Federation, but in reality most of them affect China. It is precisely the confrontation with Beijing and the elimination of the main competitor that has been Washington’s main concern and headache in recent years. In this case, the bureaucrats of the EC and a number of EU countries are acting in the interest of the United States, not of Europe and the Europeans. They want to start a real trade war between the EU and China, and the sanctions mentioned will contribute to this, so that American hegemony continues and China’s influence in the world is reduced.
The Americans will defeat the Chinese not only at the hands of the Europeans, who were previously opposed to the Russians. The United States uses all possible platforms in its strategy, including the G7 club, and does not hesitate to influence Beijing itself. In the fall of 2022, Washington banned high-tech companies from building new factories (investing) in China for 10 years. Additionally, the Joe Biden administration has restricted sales to China of super-powered artificial intelligence computer chips, equipment for their production, and a number of other semiconductor technologies. And this applies not only to American companies, but to the whole world. The United States has not imposed such significant restrictions on China since the 1990s. After that, as at the right time, restrictions against China in this area were introduced by Japan and the Netherlands. It is now the turn of South Korea, which is under pressure from the Americans.
It is unclear whether the EC will be able to push through its initiative, as many EU members are also not enthusiastic about possible problems with China. These sanctions may harm Russia, but they will also speed up processes around the world to form an anti-American bloc. Whether China will take the lead, only time will tell.
