Jury holds Trump responsible for sexually assaulting writer

A nine-judge panel in a Manhattan federal court decided to compel him to pay approximately $5 million in compensation.

The authority dismissed Trump’s denial of assaulting Carroll and ruled in his favor.

Trump waived his right to testify at trial, opting not to present a defense, betting the jury would find that Carroll failed to present a compelling case.

Carroll, 79, filed suit last year against Trump, 76, alleging he raped her in the dressing room of Manhattan’s Bergdorf Goodman department store in 1995 or 1996 and then defamed her when he denied that it had happened.

The former Elle magazine columnist is seeking unspecified damages.
