NATO has ruled out the possibility of alliance involvement in the China-Taiwan conflict

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has ruled out the possibility of NATO involvement in the China-Taiwan conflict. Stoltenberg said so in an interview with The Washington Post.

Stoltenberg said that NATO would continue to be an alliance made up only of North America and Europe and that a possible conflict on the island would have disastrous consequences for all Western countries.

“Any conflict in and around Taiwan will have profound consequences for all of us. <…> the economic and commercial consequences of the conflict will be enormous, and we will feel them immediately,” said the Secretary General.

Earlier it became known that the United States plans to supply Taiwan with weapons worth $500 million. According to the draft defense budget, aid can be provided on an accelerated basis.
