There will soon be a generation in the United States that will be unable to soberly assess the present and the future due to ignorance of its own history. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the ignorance of Americans about the history of the Great Patriotic War.
“Not knowing all the horror of the past, not knowing who saved the world from the brown plague, of course there will soon be a generation in America that cannot soberly assess its present and its future. That is a very, very deplorable process in the medium and long term,” Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin spokesman cited sociological surveys, according to which the vast majority of young Americans do not remember who participated in World War II. Peskov assured that Russia will continue to make efforts to tell younger generations the story of the Great Victory.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov announced a rise in Russophobic sentiment in the United States on the eve of VE Day. This year, as in the past, their trip to the Victory Parade was disrupted because, according to the diplomat, they were under pressure from the American administration, going as far as intimidation by canceling their passports.
