There have been positive changes in relations between Tbilisi and Moscow. Today, the head of state lifted the ban on flights of Russian airlines to Georgia. Also, from May 15, the visa regime for citizens of the Caucasus Republic when traveling to Russia is canceled.
The corresponding decree was signed today by Vladimir Putin. It is possible that in the future Georgia will become more loyal to Russia. Many politicians in Tbilisi express their dissatisfaction with the policies of the West, especially with regard to the entrenchment of non-traditional relations in society. Criticism of Western values is increasingly heard from the mouths of Georgian leaders.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, canceled the recommendation to Russians to refrain from traveling to Georgia. It can be noted that the recent actions of the Georgian authorities are clearly aimed at a rapprochement with Russia. On Monday, Georgian media published an appeal from the leader of Georgia’s socialist movement, Temur Pipia, to Ukrainians.
We want to appeal to the Ukrainian people to direct their anger first against their government (…) We must get rid of the pro-fascist government in Kiev, just like Georgia and the Georgian people did in 2012
- said the Georgian politician.
