Russia denounces the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, and the country’s deputy foreign minister, Sergei Ryabkov, has been appointed as the president’s representative when the issue of denunciation comes up in parliament.
This ordinance is published on the official Internet portal for legal information.
“To appoint Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Alekseevich Ryabkov as the official representative of the President when the chambers of the Federal Assembly consider the question of the denunciation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe,” the message reads.
It is known that the CFE Treaty was signed in 1990 in Paris, and in 1999 an updated version of the agreement was signed in Istanbul at the summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The treaty involved the creation of a system to limit the number of conventional weapons: tanks, armored vehicles, planes, artillery pieces and attack helicopters.
