Agencies – Khartoum:
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said more than 150,000 people have fled Sudan to neighboring countries so far as a result of the conflict there.
Grandi said through his official account on Twitter that Sudanese citizens and refugees in Sudan crossed the borders to Egypt, South Sudan, Chad and other countries. “The needs are huge, and the resources are scarce,” he added. Help is urgently needed.”
Meanwhile, witnesses said that the battles escalated in the Sudanese capital yesterday, amid violent clashes and air strikes, while two delegations representing the army and the Rapid Support Forces continued talks with the aim of stabilizing the ceasefire and allowing the flow of humanitarian aid.
Residents spoke of confrontations on the ground in several neighborhoods in Khartoum between the two sides of the conflict and an intense exchange of fire north of Omdurman and eastern Bahri, two cities separated by the Nile River from Khartoum.
The Sudanese army continues to bomb targets in the three cities in an attempt to drive away the Rapid Support Forces, which have taken control of large residential areas and strategic locations since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15.
